Cecilia “Cece” Stewart, Counselor Intern, Cypress, TX
Meet Cece
Hi, I’m Cece, a counseling intern (supervised by Dawn-Petrice Youngs, LPC-S) with a deep commitment to helping children, teens, and families navigate difficult emotions, disruptive behaviors, and complex relationships with food and body image. Whether your child is acting out at school, isolating at home, or stuck in a painful cycle of disordered eating, I offer a compassionate, evidence-informed space to begin healing.
Helping Young People Heal, Grow, and Thrive
If you're a parent feeling overwhelmed by your child’s mood swings, behavioral changes, or struggles with food, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to navigate it alone.
With specialized training in both behavioral therapy and eating disorder recovery—and as a Certified Nurturing Parenting Provider—I also bring practical tools to support family dynamics and restore healthy communication.
I believe every young person has the potential to grow, even through life’s toughest seasons. I’m here to support that process.
My Areas of Focus
Child & Adolescent Behavioral Concerns
Children and adolescents communicate through behavior—sometimes loudly and sometimes silently. I work with young people who are struggling with:
Frequent emotional outbursts or meltdowns
School avoidance or performance issues
Parent/child conflict
Peer struggles or bullying
Impulse control and defiance
Withdrawal, isolation, or shutting down
I use developmentally appropriate interventions like play-based therapy, mindfulness, and skill-building to help children feel safe, seen, and heard. For teens, I take a collaborative approach, giving them a voice in the process while guiding them toward healthier coping and decision-making.
Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating
Food and body issues are rarely just about food. I help adolescents and young adults who are struggling with:
Anorexia nervosa
Bulimia nervosa
Binge eating
Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
Body dysmorphia and low self-esteem
Emotional eating
These concerns often stem from deeper experiences—perfectionism, anxiety, trauma, or difficulty managing emotions. I create a nonjudgmental space where clients can explore these roots, learn emotional regulation skills, and rebuild a peaceful relationship with food and their bodies. I also support families in understanding how they can be an active part of the healing process.
Why I Work With Kids and Teens
I chose to specialize in children and adolescents because I believe early support makes a lifelong difference. So many of the adults we meet in therapy are still carrying wounds from childhood—unmet emotional needs, unresolved trauma, or labels that shaped their identity.
When we intervene early, we give young people the tools to grow up with resilience, self-worth, and healthier coping strategies. And when we support families alongside them, we create lasting change.
My Therapeutic Approach
As a counselor-in-training, I bring fresh knowledge grounded in the latest evidence-based practices. I combine empathy and curiosity with proven methods such as:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to support emotional regulation and distress tolerance
Family systems approaches to improve communication and connection at home
Body-based awareness tools to reconnect with physical and emotional cues
Narrative and expressive interventions to help younger clients communicate without words
While I’m grounded in clinical theory, I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Every child and family is unique, and I tailor our work together to meet those specific needs.
What It’s Like to Work With Me
Therapy doesn’t have to feel intimidating. In fact, many of my clients tell me they look forward to our sessions. I bring warmth, authenticity, and a calm presence to the therapy room.
My goal is to build a trusting relationship where clients feel safe exploring vulnerable topics at their own pace. I offer structure where needed, but I also know how to sit with silence, play, creativity, or humor when it helps clients feel more at ease.
I view therapy as a partnership. Whether I’m working with a 10-year-old who’s struggling to fit in at school, or a 17-year-old wrestling with body image and pressure to be “perfect,” I listen with care, guide with intention, and celebrate every small victory along the way.
Supervision & Clinical Training
I am currently completing my graduate training under the direct supervision of Dawn-Petrice Youngs, LPC-S, NCC, BCN, a board-certified expert in neurofeedback and integrative psychotherapy.
As part of my internship, I participate in regular supervision and professional development to ensure high-quality, ethical care. I’m passionate about lifelong learning and stay informed on best practices in adolescent mental health, trauma-informed care, and eating disorder recovery.
Working With Parents and Caregivers
For children and teens to heal, grow, and thrive, they need a supportive ecosystem. I work closely with parents and caregivers to help you:
Understand what’s really going on beneath the behavior
Respond in ways that support connection and change
Set healthy boundaries while nurturing self-esteem
Build consistent routines that support regulation
I also know how overwhelming parenting can feel when your child is hurting. My role is not to judge, but to walk alongside you with support and practical tools you can use at home.
